DUNDEE, OREGON – LIVING IN WORLD-CLASS WINE COUNTRY
With just a population of just over 3,000 today, Dundee was established in 1881 when the first post office opened. Dundee was named originally to honor the birthplace of William Reid, Dundee, Scotland. Reid came to Oregon in 1974 with plans to create the Oregonian Railway and extend it east by building a bridge across the Willamette River. Although the bridge was never built, the city was incorporated in 1895.
Although famous for its hazelnuts and walnuts, the main draw to Dundee is wine. Dundee’s Red Hills are similar in composition to the Bordeaux region of France and the more than 29 wineries in the area produce some of the finest wines in the world. Together with upscale dining and lodging and the beauty of the countryside, Dundee is a destination for travelers from near and far.
And it’s also a fabulous place to live!
